You've seen one, you've seen them allSo I stayed in Tel Aviv Last night and went with Adi to check out the fireworks I was so looking forword to seeing. The way the whole event was presented was that this was gonna be the biggest pyrotechnics event ever in the whole world, which sounded quite doubtful since we're talking about Israel. I mean, we never have the biggest of anything. Turned out the event was part of a French campaign to get more Israeli sympathy or something like that... I read somewhere it was gonna take place throughout the entire shoreline of the dolphinarium area and until Yafo, and that it would last for something between 20 and 30 minutes. Luckily we came from the dolphinarium side because the fireworks were all concentrated there. All the roads around the beach were closed to traffic so the crowd wouldn't get ran over and there were traffic jams all over the greater Tel Aviv area from the people coming to see the fireworks. From Adi's place it's just a ten minute walk, so this whole mess didn't bother us at all. We got to the beach and the place was packed!! I always avoid going to crowded places like they are some kind of a horrible disease, and this was the most crowded event I've ever found myself in. This is how the road right near the beach looked: ![]() ![]() ![]() People just sat at the first place they found that seemed like could be convinient given the circumstances. We found a place in front of this long row of people that just sat down in the middle of the road, but the moment the fireworks started everybody started going quickly torwards the beach because we weren't even close. The fireworks came from a boat which was a lot lower than this road, and in general the fireworks weren't going very high and with all the crowd we could hardly see anything. We got closer to the beach and finally saw more. The wind came from the sea and was blowing directly at us, so all the burned up pieces from the fireworks attacked the crowd's eyes. I could hardly see anything because of it, and my eyes were all fucked up from this for the next two days. Pictures: ![]() was taken by Sarah Hornik ![]() was taken by Sarah Hornik for more pictures click here ![]() was taken by Maya Goldstein flickr.com/photos/merdi - This girl takes great pictures and she also has some really nice shots of the fireworks. Unfortunately, she's one of these annoying, annoying people who block the option to link to their pictures, and the option of saving the picture. And yet, instead of excommunicating her, I'm linking to her page on Flickr and give her complimetns, I think it's very nice of me. was uploaded by tomeriko I left really bitter! It wasn't anywhere near as big, long, or incredible as was promised. It only lasted for harldy 15 minutes, it was concentrated in one place and it was nothing I haven't already seen before. Plus I hate to be in a crowd. Hate Hate Hate. And all the shit that got into my eyes. Ahh! I was not satisfied at all. No No! Next time I'll know there are no fireworks that will be worth seeing. They're all the same! I turn my back on them, they're rude. |
