Today is Purim -- the day when all the kids show up for school wearing their costumes, laughing and all happy, exchange candies with each other and all that...
The reason I took this day off was because Elad's schoo was having a talent show. The actual show took place at the grade school's "auditorium," so that explains the childish background.
Elad was in the talent show playing guitar with a girl from his grade and another guy from 7th grade -- it's the same kid who climbed a tree, fell, and was taken to the hospital and was given artificial respiration that was talked about in the news a month or two ago. Can't say he's a great drummer... But he's alive and he hits the drums, so good for him...
They didn't decide to play in the talent show until a week ago, and none of them had any experience with the song. If that's not enough, they only got to rehearse together once. Oh yeah, and they didn't have a bass player so Elad had to combine the guitar and bass lines somehow...
It kinda sucked in general, but with these facts and the people involved, Elad did as good a job as he could have given the circumstances.
It was like a nightmare to be stuck there until it was finally them prefomring on the stage. It was weird to see that, given how young they were, the girls and guys were already so full of themselves, trashy and, into the realm of being slutty. I guess there were nice kids, too, but it wasn't them I heard so loud in my ears.
I found my corner where I could kinda get an angle on Elad. I was being very careful with the pictures I took, because I wanted to make sure I could record the whole song. Everything worked out just fine, and when they finally showed up on the stage I was really excited and proud.

So here it is, don't expect anything huge. They were doing "Take Me Away" from "Freaky Friday". Just concentrate on my brother and his guitar playing (and try to ignore the drums and the singing):

Here are two of the "popular" girls. They put on a little striptease-like show:






This is their principal. She looked so retarted wearing this angel costume that I totally had to take a picture of her.



These two girls were the first people I ran into when I got to his school. They were singing the song Elad was performing, so I thought maybe one of them was Galit (the singer from the video). But were doing their own thing. That wasn't so great either, but honeslty most of the performances sucked really bad, so...


The drummer on his solo. It was the pointless thing ever.


This dude preformed like Britney Spears... The song was playing (including guitars - duh... no one took it out), and he was playing along with it...
I thought he held the guitar way too high, and that it looked kinda dorky.


A harmless little girl who sang some sweet song and the whole thing was just kinda sweet:


Remember that it's Purim, so the really cool guys that are totally confident and all that just wear the gayest thing just to show that they don't give a damn. I think this guy was the biggest surprise of all. First of all seeing him holding a violin was the weirdest thing ever. But then seeing him doing really really well with this violin - that was a lot weirder! He was playing the Tango that the only way I can describe it is telling you that I remember it from "True Lies". I really enjoyed it. Wish I had a video of this as well.


This thing was really weird, too, but nowhere near as good.


The guy is from Elad's grade and the girl is his partner for dancing and isn't from their school at all. There were probably the closest thing to pros in the whole show, and I enjoyed them, too. The girl was pretty without acting and looking cheap like most of the the other girls who performed.

This picture isn't very flattering... In regular Israeli schools (that aren't religious or arab or anything like that) there's absolutely no limit to how much kids can expose of themselves. I mean... lets put it this way -- my year book contained a lot of naked male butt pictures...

However, the ridiculous thing was that only a few of the "cooler" kids from their grade chose the winners. Obviously, they picked the girls who did the striptease-like dance as the winners. They took out the two really talented kids (from the last picture) because they were "professionals" and it "wasn't fair" to even include them in it when they are so above everybody else. I totally despise this stupid idea. Those kids totally deserved to win it. The wannabe strippers are the ones who should be left out of this competition because it's not a talent to dance like strippers. Well, I guess it could be, but these girls hardly moved, and there was definitely no talent in what they did.
