My dad had to have an operation on Sunday (June 19th), so I got some time off from the army so I could be at home to help out and visit my dad. He was in the hospital for two weeks, so that means I was at home most of the time, other than when I went to visit him, needed to buy some groceries from the supermaket and when I needed to go to Tel Aviv to bring various papers to the army to verify the situation I was in.
During these two weeks I was the person who made sure everything at home ran smoothly, which meant being responsible for Elad, making food (schnitzel, couscous, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, french fries... and I didn't even burn anything!), doing dishes and other cleaning around the house. During my free time (what little there was), I visited the hospital and answered the seemingly milions of phone calls from people that wanted to send their "best wishes." I also used it for something I hadn't done in a long time: art! I've always liked to draw and create stuff but especially since highschool I was surrounded by people who weren't that interested in art and wouldn't take the time to do anything "arty" and it totally effected me and it supressed my natural desire to create things. Now, in my department there are a lot of talented, creative people and you can't help but be inspired by them. I love the people and I love this place and what it does to me. I can't say that I got that many things done... but it's a start.
