The last two days of basic training

After half-good/half-depressing weekend I went to the other side of the country, back to the base...
We all were really excited and sad these last two days because we were about to finish basic training and start our service, meaning we would be split-up and not likely to see each other again. We got really attached to each other during basic training.
I brought a camera (Adi's camera) for these days so I could take pictures of the place, my friends, and other girls from my platoon. As much as I went crazy with it and took a lot of pictures, it wasn't even close to enough and I wish I would've taken a picture of the half-dog/half-coyote, and of the commanders... and more pictures of my friends and pictures of my entire team. Wra.

However, here some of them:

Nirit, Sivan and Shiran
All the girls from the more distant parts of the country didn't have to get to the meeting place until later. We needed to wait forever there until the buses that take us to our base got there and were ready to go.

This is the inside of the dinning room. See the ceiling fans? Pigeons sit on them and poop all over them. I wouldn't wanna be there in the summer when they turn them on.

Arina giving a mysterious look to the camera while Michal enjoys an olive (I think it was an olive...)

These were the beds we slept for our last night at the base. We used to have different beds with thicker and softer mattresses.

My bed is the one in the top right corner (the most organized one).

After moving most of the beds to the sides Yael and I took a "goodbye, tent" picture.

Yael, Arina, me :) and Chavi

Michal, another Michal, Arina, Dana and another Michal!
(there was at least another Michal in my platoon).
The army uniform was still huge on all of us because we hadn't gotten them fixed yet, so we all looked like something between funny dwarfs and amoebas.
It looks really funny but we were too frustrated to find it funny at the time.

After awhile the commanders thought it was just too democratic to let us hang out like this so they started giving us all kinds of jobs.
This picture was taken in the אפסנאות (equipment storage area). We could swear the piles of clothes would just never end. Before we brought them to the אפסנאות we had to take them out from some truck. Two girls were chosen to throw the clothes from the truck to the girls below. Your humble servant was one of them :)

Later we were split into small groups. Chavi and I were told to wash the payphone (who washes a payphone?!?!). After this, we were told to make signs labeling the payphone and drinking fountain (in case people from 300 years ago somehow show up and need to know what these strange objects are). Later we were told to do some weeding with Arina, Yael, Dana and some other girls. There were only two hoes, so we kept switching between using the hoes and using our hands to weed.

We noticed a frog hiding under this pipe.

Soon it started jumping around, and everyone (other than me, because I took the pictures) ran away. I was really careful, too, because I'm not a a huge fan of frogs and was scared by the little creature as well...

Before we put all the beds, mattresses, sleeping bags, the B' kit bags and other crap in the place we organized our bags in groups of three.

After we took care of that (and it took at least an hour) we finally left the lovely platoon. We felt the weight of our leaving. It was powerful...
Btw, this girl on the right is another Michal that you have't seen yet, and she's holding the apricot jelly i fell in love with in basic training.

We took some food with us since we didn't get a proper breakfast. This is the army chocolate spread. Some girls complained about how the texture was too grainy/gritty -- people find ways to complain about pretty much everything in the army. Peronally, I was totally cool with the chocolate spread... tango.

We were moved to the company feild to be split-up into units. This picture was taken just before we were split-up. Roni "superstar" was sitting in the row in front of me, and some girls who noticed I was holding a camera started yelling "take a picture of Roni" and before I even got to express my reaction of disgust, some other girls started yelling "don't do it! for god's sake respect her privacy!"
I was like "ahhhhh! I don't want her picture! Don't eat me, you crazy, cannibalistic bitches!"

Some guy who was the head of something-or-other and was there to tell each of us which units we would be going into started talking and the girls calmed down.
I finally got the confirmation for being belong to the intelligence. My position code or whatever was 1125. I still remember it because it's my birthday... It just proves me getting this job was DESTINY.

When we all knew where we were gonna be we got on busses that took us to the central bus station in Askelon, and from there we managed to find our way home.
Girls started screaming and singing as soon as we got on the bus, which kinda bothered those who chose to call their parents first and tell them where they were gonna serve and that they where on their way home and this kind of stuff...
We'd been waiting for about 20 more minutes before the bus started moving, and when it finally started, we all felt the hard beats (I DUNNO WHAT YOU MEAN HERE) of being being in front of something big.

My wish list:

If you wanna make me happy/ it's my birthday and you don't know what to get for me -- This is what I would like to get :) (as usual I'm saving you the trouble)

  • Mango / Zara / Magnolia gift certificates and gift cards!!!

  • Ben and Jerry's - New York Super Fudge Chunk

  • Simple acrylic paints (FolkArt or just whatever that is cheaper!) -- they are always useful, and it doesn't have to be a fancy package that includes a lot of colors -- regular sized bottle of whatever color you like would be great! (FYI, white is most used).

  • 400k volt shocker model T-4

  • Punching bag

  • Upgrade my Flickr Pro account for another year or two :) If you feel like doing this very very nice thing for me you're gonna need to go here. See this little lable on the right side of my name at the top? You click on this and then choose to upgrade my pro account. I think you have to be signed up for Flickr to do this, as well.
