Technically most of the day was fine... everything got ruined when I basically didn't have anything to do, and I was told that in this kind of situation I can leave, so I was all full of hope. What happened was that about 15 minutes before I thought to leave the secretary wanted me to keep track of the office for "just a few minutes" because she wanted get something to eat, and she said she would come back really quick. It was around 4:15. She finally came back at 5 and I was all nice about it and at the same time all about to leave. Then she said she meant to show me a few things in the office. She was supposed to show me that stuff last thursday but she was too busy talking with her friends on the phone and being generally useless then, so we told the boss that we didn't get to it. She felt pressed to come up with the same excuse today and wanted me to stay so she could "teach me." So I stayed there, didn't make any faces and didn't use any annoyed tone because I'm new there after all and wanna get along with the people. Then I had to wait forever for her until she was ready to finally move herself another meter and sit in front of the computer and fucking show me the most trivial thing: copying mail details into some program. There were other things I needed to know how to do with this program but she didn't get to show me them because when I mentioned something about how important is for me that I have the option to leave earlier today and how I would really LIKE to make use of this option, she decided that was the best time to call a friend she hadn't seen for a week. And during that phonecall some other friend of hers called on the other phone so she went from that conversation straight to the other one and I was just sitting there waiting for the Messiah. I got annoyed and went to my office to grab my stuff just to save a little time. I assumed by the time I got my stuff and organized the other office she would be done talking. I went into the office and she was standing near the door putting on her coat and getting ready to go. She said that we'll tell our boss that we didn't get it done today after all, and I finally ended up leaving this place at 5:29 thanks to her. My train was supposed to get to the station around 5:37. I walked way faster than any person should walk, and totally killed my legs and feeties. When I got there I saw the people on their way out. It was 5:38 -- it was too late. I was stuck there until the next train came(which was supposed to arrive at 5:58). I was getting madder and madder while I was waiting -- and then what do I hear?! "The 5:58 train to Haifa would be delayed 15 minutes due to some problems blah blah blah..." I couldn't believe it! This train ended up randomly stopping a bunch of times along the way for some reason, so the ride took longer than it normally takes. In the end I got on the train of 6:16 and got home around 8. I could have been home before six!!! I know it sounds really petty, but when I need to wake up at 5 every morning and get home around 8:00 at night and I don't eat enough in the base during the day and don't get to communicate with my life in Haifa, yes these two hours are extremely valuable for me.
God how much I missed my M16 today (even though it was so ugly and so uncomfortable).
