The biggest flower ever

Meet the Rafflesia (named after Sir Stamford Raffles, whoever he was), the largest flower in the world. The largest ever recorded from a flower of the species Rafflesia arnoldii in some tropical forest in Indonesia -- a meter in diameter.
It smells like rotten meat (to attract bugs), and if it's not a good enough reason for you to keep a distance, it will also kill itself if anything large comes near it (there are "invisible roots" in the ground around the flower-part that detect the weight of large animals), and the species is already endangered.
