Everything Is Just Too SophisticatedHere are some excerpts from a conversation that i had with my dad last night: my dad: "The tv screen is green all of a sudden. There's a problem with our tv! It's probably broken!" me!: "Hmm... but, look! It still shows the number of the channels on the right side. It's the digital cable box that is acting weird, not the tv! Just try to turn it off and then turn it on again" "I can't turn it off. It doesn't react to the remote-control" "OK, have you thought of going all the way to the cable box and pushing the off button?!" Well, I said it a bit different... "Is there such a button?" I've never looked at the cable box up close so I don't really know what it looks like... I never watch tv there, but "This kind of shit always has an off button... unless it's a toster or something..." And indeed there was an off button but even that didn't help... It just didn't turn it off no matter what. "See, you can't turn it off!" "So what would you say about unplugging it and then plugging it back in again?! Would that be cool?(!?!?!)" "Just leave it, your mom should be here soon. She knows how to take care of these things" My mom came... And what do you know? She unpluged it and even pluged it in again and *magic* it started working again! Why didn't I think of that?! Well, what do I know about complex and weird stuff like tvs and cable boxes, anyway? She also told him the problem wasn't the tv but the cable box. (my dad)  "Inbal! Did you see that?! There's no problem with the tv! It was the digital cable box that was acting weird. I told you your mom knows what to do. She unplugged it and plugged it in again and it started working again!"
Noooo! Gee I wonder where I heard that before?
